The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the pages are made public 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Where then are you going? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
