The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Mount 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 by the Visited House, 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 and the sea that is full 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 such as play at plunging, 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
