Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 who gave a little, and then stopped? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses, 36 And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] - 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 And that to your Lord (Allah) is the End (Return of everything). 42 That it is He Who granteth Laughter and Tears; 43 And that it is He (Allah) Who causes death and gives life; 44 and He it is Who created the two kinds, the male and the female, 45 From the small seed when it is adapted 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 and that it is He who gives wealth and riches, 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius; 49 And that it is He Who earlier destroyed the tribe of Aad? 50 And that Thamud! He left not. 51 And the people of Nuh (Noah) aforetime, verily, they were more unjust and more rebellious and transgressing [in disobeying Allah and His Messenger Nuh (Noah)]. 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 so that there came upon them that which came. 54 Concerning which then, of the bounties of thy Lord, canst thou dispute? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 The Imminent is imminent; 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 So are you surprised at this fact? 59 And you laugh at it and weep not, 60 Wasting your time in vanities? 61 So prostrate yourselves before Allah and worship. ۩ 62
