Think not that Allah doth not heed the deeds of those who do wrong. He but giveth them respite against a Day when the eyes will fixedly stare in horror,- 42 (And) they would hasten forward, heads lifted upwards, gazes fixed, and emptied out their hearts. 43 Hence, warn men of the Day when this suffering may befall them, and when those who did wrong [in their lifetime] will exclaim: "O our Sustainer! Grant us respite for a short while, so that we might respond to Thy call and follow the apostles!" [But God will answer:] "Why - were you not aforetime wont to swear that no kind of resurrection and retribution awaited you? 44 You lived in the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, and it was made clear to you how We had dealt with them and We gave you many examples. 45 They devised their devising, and their devising is known to God; though their devising were such as to remove mountains.' 46 You must not even think that God will disregard His promise to His messengers. God is Majestic and Revengeful. 47 Upon the day the earth shall be changed to other than the earth, and the heavens and they sally forth unto God, the One, the Omnipotent. 48 On that Day you shall see the guilty ones secured in chains; 49 Their garments of liquid pitch, and their faces covered with Fire; 50 So that Allah will recompense every soul for what it earned. Indeed, Allah is swift in account. 51 This is the message to be conveyed to all mankind – and in order to warn them with it, and for them to know that He is the only One God, and for men of understanding to heed advice. 52
