۞ Muster those who did evil, their wives, and that they were serving, 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 So verily on that Day they all in the torment will be sharers. 33 Lo! thus deal We with the guilty. 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 But it will be no more than the retribution of (the Evil) that ye have wrought;- 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 Those! theirs shall be a provision known: 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 White, delicious to those who drink. 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 And with them will be mates of modest gaze, most beautiful of eye, 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 He will say: -- Do you wish to know where he is now?' 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He will say, "By God! You almost brought me to ruin! 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Verily We! We have made it a temptation for the wrong-doers. 63 Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 They found their father going astray 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
