And [every time] the great ones among his people, who refused to acknowledge the truth and gave the lie to the announcement of a life to come - [simply] because We had granted them ease and plenty in [their] worldly life, and they had become corrupted by it [every time] they would say: "This [man] is nothing hut a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat, and drinking of what you drink: 33 If you obey a mortal like yourselves, you shall be lost. 34 Promiseth he unto you that ye, when ye have died and have become dust and bones, ye are to be brought forth? 35 ۞ “How remote, (really) how remote is the promise you are given!” 36 "There is nothing but our life in this world! We shall die and we live! But we shall never be raised up again! 37 This man has forged a mere lie in the name of Allah and we shall never believe what he says." 38 (The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies." 39 [And God] would say: "After a little while they will surely be smitten with remorse!" 40 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead plants. So away with the people who are Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, disobedient to His Messengers, etc.). 41 After them We brought another generation into existence. 42 No community can anticipate their term, nor can they lay behind. 43 Then We sent our messengers one after another. Whenever its messenger came unto a nation they denied him; so We caused them to follow one another (to disaster) and We made them bywords. A far removal for folk who believe not! 44 We then sent Moosa and his brother Haroon, with Our signs and a clear proof. 45 To Pharaoh and his Chiefs: But these behaved insolently: they were an arrogant people. 46 'What' they said, 'are we to believe in two mortals like us, whose nation are our worshipers' 47 So they accused them of falsehood, and they became of those who were destroyed. 48 We gave Moses the Book so that they might be guided. 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Prophet Eisa) and his mother a sign, and We gave them shelter on a height, a place to stay and visible springs. 50
