Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you who wraps himself [in clothing], 1 stand up to pray for much of the night. 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof, 3 Or a little more; and recite the Qur'an in slow, measured rhythmic tones. 4 Verily, We shall send down to you a weighty Word (i.e. obligations, legal laws, etc.). 5 Surely, getting up at night [for worship] is the most potent means of subduing the self and most suitable for the word [of prayer]. 6 Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties, 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion. 8 The Lord of the East and the West-- there is no god but He-- therefore take Him for a protector. 9 And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance. 10 Leave Me to deal with the deniers, lords of ease and comfort (in this life); and do thou respite them awhile. 11 We have prepared for them fetters, flaming fire, 12 food that chokes and painful punishment 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. 16 Then how, if ye disbelieve, will ye protect yourselves upon the day which will turn children grey, 17 Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? His Promise needs must be accomplished. 18 Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! 19

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
