Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 And when the seas are made to flow forth, 3 And when the graves are overturned. 4 A soul will know what it hath sent before (it) and what left behind. 5 O man, what seduced you from your munificent Lord 6 Who created you, fashioned you perfectly, and gave you due proportion; 7 and set you in whatever form He pleased? 8 Not at all – but rather you deny the establishment of Justice. 9 Surely there are guardians over you, 10 watching over you 11 They know (and understand) all that ye do. 12 Verily the pious shall be in Delight. 13 and the libertines shall be in a fiery furnace 14 They shall enter it on the day of judgment. 15 And they shall by no means be absent from it. 16 And what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is? 17 And once again: What could make thee conceive what that Judgment Day will be? 18 A day when no soul shall possess aught to succour another soul; that day the Command shall belong unto God. 19
