The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 on a Great Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 upon couches gazing; 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 upon couches gazing. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
