In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
