۞ It was He who created you from a single soul, and from it made its mate so that he may find comfort in her. Once he has covered her, she conceives and goes about with a light burden. When it grows heavy, they both call to God, their Lord, "If You bestow on us a healthy child, we will surely be grateful," 189 yet when He grants them a healthy child, they begin to ascribe to others a share in the gift they have received. But God is far above what they associate with Him! 190 Do they associate (with Allah in His divinity) those who can create nothing; rather, they are themselves created? 191 And cannot provide any help to them, nor do they help themselves? 192 Believers, even if you invite them to true guidance, they will not follow you. It makes no difference whether you invite them or whether you keep quiet. 193 Verily, all those whom you invoke beside God are but created beings like yourselves: invoke them, then, and let them answer your prayer - if what you claim is true! 194 Have they feet wherewith they wend? Have they hands wherewith they grip? Have they eyes wherewith they see? Have they ears wherewith they hearken? Say thou: call upon your associate gods, and then plot against me and respite me not. 195 My Protector is God who sent down the Book, and He takes into His protection the righteous. 196 whereas all those whom you invoke in His stead are neither able to give you succour nor can succour themselves; 197 (Muhammad), if you invite them to the right guidance, they will not listen to you. You will see them looking at you but they do not really see. 198 MAKE due allowance for man's nature, and enjoin the doing of what is right; and leave alone all those who choose to remain ignorant. 199 And if there prompt thee a prompting from the Satan, seek refuge with Allah; verily He is Hearing, Knowing. 200 Surely those who guard (against evil), when a visitation from the Shaitan afflicts them they become mindful, then lo! they see. 201 Their brethren plunge them further into error and cease not. 202 And when you, [O Muhammad], do not bring them a sign, they say, "Why have you not contrived it?" Say, "I only follow what is revealed to me from my Lord. This [Qur'an] is enlightenment from your Lord and guidance and mercy for a people who believe." 203 Whenever the Quran is recited (to you), listen to it quietly so that you may receive mercy. 204 And remember your Lord by your tongue and within yourself, humbly and with fear without loudness in words in the mornings, and in the afternoons and be not of those who are neglectful. 205 Verily those who are in the presence of your Lord are never too proud to worship and celebrate His praises, and bow in homage to Him'. ۩ 206
