Aaron had told them before, "My people, you are deceived by the calf. Your Lord is the Beneficent God. Follow me and obey my orders". 90 They had said: "We will not abandon this cult, but we will devote ourselves to it until Moses returns to us." 91 (Musa) said: O Haroun! what prevented you, when you saw them going astray, 92 "That you followed me not (according to my advice to you)? Have you then disobeyed my order?" 93 He said: O son of my mother! seize me not by my beard nor by my head; surely I was afraid lest you should say: You have caused a division among the children of Israel and not waited for my word. 94 Moses said: "What, then, is your case, O Samiri?" 95 (Samiri) said: "I saw what they saw not, so I took a handful (of dust) from the hoof print of the messenger [Jibrael's (Gabriel) horse] and threw it [into the fire in which were put the ornaments of the Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people, or into the calf]. Thus my inner-self suggested to me." 96 Moses said, "Begone! It shall be your lot to say throughout your life, "Do not touch me," and you will be faced with a fate from which there will be no escape. Now look at your deity to which you have become so devoted: we shall burn it up, and then scatter it into the sea. 97 Your God is only One, Allah. There is no god, except He, alone. His knowledge encompasses all things. 98 THUS DO WE relate unto thee some of the stories of what happened in the past; and [thus] have We vouchsafed unto thee, out of Our grace, a reminder. 99 Whoever turns away from it will bear a heavy burden on the Day of Judgement, 100 [Abiding] eternally therein, and evil it is for them on the Day of Resurrection as a load - 101 The Day when the Horn shall be blown. On that Day, We shall assemble all the sinners with blued eyes, 102 Murmuring among themselves: Ye have tarried but ten (days). 103 We know well what they will utter, whereas the wisest among them will say, “You have stayed just for a day.” 104
