The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And dense gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
