The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
