Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
