Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 and you are a lodger in this country. 2 And by the giver of birth, and whom he fathered, 3 Assuredly We have created man in trouble. 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 He shall say: I have wasted much wealth. 6 Does man think that no one saw him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes? 8 and a tongue, and two lips, 9 and shown him the two paths? 10 So he did not quickly enter the steep valley. 11 What will explain to you what the ascent is? 12 (It is) Freeing a neck (slave, etc.) 13 or the feeding in times of famine 14 An orphan near of kin, 15 or some needy person in distress, 16 Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion. 17 Their place will be on the right hand. 18 And (as for) those who disbelieve in our communications, they are the people of the left hand. 19 who will be engulfed in the fire. 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
