When Your Lord told Moses to go to the unjust people of the Pharaoh 10 The people of Firon: Will they not guard (against evil)? 11 : He said: "O Lord, I fear that they will deny me. 12 "My breast will be straitened. And my speech may not go (smoothly): so send unto Aaron. 13 They hold a sin against me, and I fear that they will kill me' 14 Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call). 15 They came to the Pharaoh and said, "We are the Messengers of the Lord of the Universe. 16 That you should send the children of Israel with us.' 17 [But when Moses had delivered his message, Pharaoh] said: "Did we not bring thee up among us when thou wert a child? And didst thou not spend among us years of thy [later] life? 18 And thou didst that thy deed which thou didst, and thou wast one of the ingrates. 19 Musa (Moses) said: "I did it then, when I was an ignorant (as regards my Lord and His Message). 20 "So I fled from you when I feared you. But my Lord has granted me Hukman (i.e. religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood), and appointed me as one of the Messengers. 21 But the favour you oblige me with is that you have enslaved the children of Israel." 22 The Pharaoh asked, "Who is the Lord of the Universe?" 23 He said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure. 24 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Do you not hear (what he says)?" 25 Moses continued, "He is the Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 Pharaoh said, "This messenger who has been sent to you is surely possessed!" 27 [But Moses] went on: "[He of whom I speak is] the Sustainer of the east and the west and of all that is between the two - as you would know]" if you would but use your reason!" 28 Said [Pharaoh]: "Indeed, if thou choose to worship any deity other than me, I shall most certainly throw thee into prison! 29 He said, 'What, even though I brought thee something so manifest?' 30 Pharaoh said: "Then bring it if you are truthful at all." 31 So Moosa put down his staff and it became a visible serpent. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it looked white to the beholders. 33
