The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; 2 Verily, We have shown him the way: [and it rests with him to prove himself] either grateful or ungrateful. 3 We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. 4 Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. 5 A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. 6 They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. 7 They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, 8 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; 11 and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they will find there neither (heat of) a sun nor bitter cold. 13 And close down upon them (shall be) its shadows, and its fruits shall be made near (to them), being easy to reach. 14 Passed round will be silver flagons and goblets made of glass, 15 crystal of silver that they have measured -- very exactly. 16 and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, 17 from a spring named salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls. 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. 21 (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. 22
