The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 So whither do you stray? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
