The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 And it is no joke. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
