The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the mount 1 and a Book inscribed 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 By the House Frequented. 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
