A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim-Sad. 1 A Book revealed to you-- so let there be no straitness in your breast on account of it-- that you may warn thereby, and a reminder close to the believers. 2 Follow what has been sent down to you by your Lord and do not follow any protector other than Him. How seldom you take heed. 3 How many a village have We laid in ruin! In the night Our Might fell upon it, or at midday when they were drowsy. 4 and they but cried, when Our might came upon there, 'We were evildoers.'; 5 Then shall We question those to whom Our message was sent and those through whom We sent it 6 Then surely, We shall narrate unto them (their whole story) with knowledge, and indeed We were not absent. 7 The balance that day will be true (to nicety): those whose scale (of good) will be heavy, will prosper: 8 And as for him whose measure (of good deeds) is light those are they who have made their souls suffer loss because they disbelieved in Our communications. 9 And We have given you (mankind) power in the earth, and appointed for you therein livelihoods. Little give ye thanks! 10
