And mention Ibrahim in the Book; surely he was a truthful man, a prophet. 41 who asked his father, "Father, why do you worship something that can neither hear nor see nor help you at all? 42 O my father, to me has come such knowledge as never came to you. So follow me that I may show you the right path. 43 Father! Do not worship Satan -- for, truly, Satan is a rebel against the Most Gracious One! 44 O my father, I fear lest a punishment from Ar-Rahman should befall you, and you should become a friend of the Devil." 45 He said: art thou averse to my gods, O Ibrahim? If thou desistest not, surely I shall stone thee; and depart from me for ever so long. 46 He said, “Stop it – peace be upon you; I shall seek forgiveness for you from my Lord; indeed He is very kind to me.” 47 I will separate myself from you and from whatever you call upon besides God, and I will pray only to my Lord. It may well be that, in calling on my Lord, I will not be disappointed." 48 When he had turned away from them and from those whom they worshipped besides Allah, We bestowed on him Isaac and Jacob, and each one of them We made a prophet. 49 and We bestowed upon them [manifold] gifts out of Our grace, and granted them a lofty power to convey the truth [unto others]. 50
