Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 To which He subjected them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that thou mightest have seen men during it lying prostrate, as though they were stumps of palms ruined. 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 In high empyrean 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 Which none but the hellish eat." 37
