A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
206 verses, revealed in Mecca after S (Saad) before Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif Lam Mim Suad. 1 A Book revealed unto thee,- So let thy heart be oppressed no more by any difficulty on that account,- that with it thou mightest warn (the erring) and teach the Believers). 2 Follow that which is sent down to you from your Lord and do not follow guardians other than Him; little do you remember. 3 How many a township We have destroyed! Our scourge fell upon them at night, or when they were taking midday rest. 4 And when Our Might fell upon them they only said: 'We have indeed been harmdoers' 5 Thus, [on Judgment Day] We shall most certainly call to account all those unto whom a [divine] message was sent, and We shall most certainly call to account the message-bearers [themselves]; 6 We will tell them with absolute certainty (what they had done) for We had never been absent from them (during their lifetime). 7 On that Day, the weighing is true. He whose scales are heavy those are the prosperers, 8 As for those whose bad deeds weigh heavier, they will lose their souls for their injustice to Our revelations. 9 We assuredly established you in the earth and arranged for your livelihood in it. Little do you give thanks. 10
