Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Alif Lam Mim. 1 THESE ARE MESSAGES of the divine writ, full of wisdom, 2 A guidance and a mercy for the good, 3 Those who keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and they are certain of the hereafter. 4 Those are upon guidance from their Lord; those are the prosperers. 5 Some men there are who buy diverting talk to lead astray from the way of God without knowledge, and to take it in mockery; those -- there awaits them a humbling chastisement. 6 Whenever Our messages are conveyed to such a person, he turns away in his arrogance, as though he had not heard them -- as though his ears were sealed: give him, then, the tidings of grievous suffering [in the life to come]. 7 Surely those who believe and do good deeds shall have Gardens of Bliss. 8 therein to dwell forever -- God's promise in truth; and He is the All-mighty, the All-wise. 9 He created the heavens without pillars that you see and has cast into the earth firmly set mountains, lest it should shift with you, and dispersed therein from every creature. And We sent down rain from the sky and made grow therein [plants] of every noble kind. 10 This is the creation of God. Show me what those whom you consider equal to God have created. In fact, the unjust ones are in plain error. 11
