The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 there is no denying its coming 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and banana trees, 29 And extended shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
