The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(All) praise is due to Allah, Who revealed the Book to His servant and did not make in it any crookedness. 1 so that he could warn them of His stern retribution, give the glad news of the best and everlasting reward to the righteously striving believers, 2 [a state of bliss] in which they shall dwell beyond the count of time. 3 and to warn those who say, 'God has taken to Himself a son'; 4 They have no knowledge of it, nor had their fathers. Grave is the word that comes out of their mouths; they speak not except a lie. 5 But wouldst thou, perhaps, torment thyself to death with grief over them if they are not willing to believe in this message? 6 Surely We have made whatever is on the earth an embellishment for it, so that We may try them (as to) which of them is best in works. 7 Let it be known that We will turn all things on earth into dust. 8 Or, do you think that the Fellows of the Cave and the Inscription were of Our wonderful signs? 9 [Mention] when the youths retreated to the cave and said, "Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance." 10 Then We sealed up their hearing in the Cave for a number of years. 11 We then awakened them to see which of the two groups more accurately tells the period they had stayed. 12
