The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
