Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a high Garden 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
