Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Nay, I swear by this city - 1 in which you are now living 2 or by the great father and his wonderful son (Abraham and Ishmael) 3 We created the human in fatigue. 4 Thinketh he, that none hath power over him? 5 And he saith: I have destroyed vast wealth: 6 Does he believe that none has seen him? 7 Have We not appointed to him two eyes, 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 and shown him the two highways [of good and evil]? 10 Yet he attempteth not the steep, 11 and what shall teach thee what is the steep? 12 (It is) the freeing of a slave, 13 Or, feeding, in a day of privation, 14 an orphaned relative 15 Or to the indigent (down) in the dust. 16 Then he became one of those who believed, and recommended one another to perseverance and patience, and (also) recommended one another to pity and compassion. 17 These are the People of the Right Hand. 18 But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left. 19 Upon them shall be a Fire that will hem them in. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
