۞ And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these idols to which you cling so passionately?" 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said, "You were certainly, you and your fathers, in manifest error." 54 They said: "Are you expressing your true ideas before us or are you jesting?" 55 He said: "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them and of that I am one of the witnesses. 56 And, by God, I shall assuredly outwit your idols, after you have gone away turning your backs.' 57 Then he made them fragments, all except the big one of them, that haply unto it they may return. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? He must indeed be some man of impiety!" 59 They said: We heard a youth make mention of them, who is called Abraham. 60 "Bring him before the people," they said, "that they may bear witness." 61 They said, "Art thou the one that did this with our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He said: But this, their chief hath done it. So question them, if they can speak. 63 They then turned to themselves, and said: verily ye it is who are the wrong-doers. 64 Again they were inverted upon their heads; saying, “You know well that these do not speak.” 65 Said [Abraham]: "Do you then worship, instead of God, something that cannot benefit you in any way, nor harm you? 66 Fie on you and on what you serve besides Allah; what! do you not then understand? 67 They said, “Burn him and help your Gods, if you want to.” 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 They wished to entrap him, but We made them greater losers. 70 And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob as an additional gift, making each of them righteous. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding (mankind) by Our Command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds, performing Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and the giving of Zakat and of Us (Alone) they were worshippers. 73 And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient. 74 and We admitted him into Our mercy; he was of the righteous. 75
