Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those [winds] scattering [dust] dispersing 1 And the clouds bearing a load. 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 And the angels who distribute the affair. 4 Undoubtedly, the promise you are given is surely true. 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 And by oath of the decorated heaven. 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 though only those who are averse to the Truth will turn away from (believing in it). 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 Who are careless in an abyss! 11 they who [mockingly] ask, "When is that Day of Judgment to be?" 12 Upon the day when they shall be tried at the Fire: 13 "Taste your trial. This is what you sought to hasten." 14 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and fountains. 15 taking whatsoever their Lord has given them; they were good-doers before that. 16 They slept very little during the night 17 And in the morning they asked forgiveness. 18 And in their wealth the beggar and the outcast had due share. 19 There are signs in the earth for those who are firm in their faith, 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 And in heaven is your provision, and that you are promised. 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
