The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and banana trees, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water everflowing. 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 So made them as maidens. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
