Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 cushions ranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
