The dwellers of the forest also rejected the Messengers. 176 Shu'aib said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 177 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 178 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 179 And I ask of you no wage for it; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure and do not cheat; 181 "And weigh with the true and straight balance. 182 "And defraud not people by reducing their things, nor do evil, making corruption and mischief in the land. 183 Fear Him who created you and those who have gone before you." 184 They said, "You are only of those affected by magic. 185 And you are naught but a mortal like ourselves, and we know you to be certainly of the liars. 186 Then drop down on us lumps from heaven, if thou art one of the truthful.' 187 He said, 'My Lord knows very well what you are doing.' 188 But they rejected him. Then the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom seized them, and that was the Penalty of a Great Day. 189 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 190 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 191
