The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 And We bore Noah on the vessel built of planks and nails, 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 It swept people away as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 22
