Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? 3 Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers. 4 But man desires to continue in sin. 5 He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 So when vision is dazzled 7 And the moon becomes dark, 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 14 in spite of all the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not your tongue concerning (the Quran, O Muhammad SAW) to make haste therewith. 16 It's gathering and reciting is upon Us. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation (by Us). 18 Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): 19 But no. You love this transient life, 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will be radiant on that Day, 22 Waiting for their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 And they will say, “Is there any one any magician?” 27 He will then realise it is the parting, 28 And affliction is combined with affliction; 29 To your Lord then will be the driving. 30

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
