The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 And by those who float in space, 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 and gathered his people together 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
