The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
