The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
