Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
