Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness those who scatter (dust) by dispersing, 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 And (the ships) that float with ease and gentleness; 3 and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): 4 Verily that which ye are promised is true; 5 and the Judgement shall doubtlessly take place. 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 You are surely caught in contradictions., 8 Let whoever wishes, turn away from Our Quran. 9 Destroyed are the falsifiers 10 who are dazed in perplexity 11 they who [mockingly] ask, "When is that Day of Judgment to be?" 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on. 14 The pious ones will live amidst gardens and springs, 15 Accepting the rewards given by their Lord; they were indeed virtuous before this. 16 sleeping little in the night-time, 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 and in their wealth was a share for whosoever asked and for whosoever was prevented. 19 AND ON EARTH there are signs [of God's existence, visible] to all who are endowed with inner certainty, 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 And in heaven is [the source of] your sustenance [on earth] and [of] all that you are promised [for your life after death]: 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
