The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
