The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ I swear by this city, Makkah - 1 this land in which thou art free to dwell 2 and by parent and offspring, 3 Verily We have created man into toil and hardship. 4 Thinks he that none can overcome him? 5 He says, “I destroyed vast wealth.” 6 Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? 7 Did We not grant him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 And showed him two highways (of good and evil)? 10 Yet, he has not entered into Aqaba 11 And what do you know what that difficult steep is? 12 (It is) to free a slave, 13 Or the giving of food in a day of privation 14 Of a related orphan, 15 Or of a homeless needy person! 16 and, then besides this, he be one of those who believed, and enjoined upon one another steadfastness and enjoined upon one another compassion. 17 Such are the Companions of the Right Hand. 18 As for those who disbelieve in Our revelations, they are the people of the left 19 Over them shall be Fire closing round. 20
True are the words of God the Almighty.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
