And Harun (Aaron) indeed had said to them beforehand: "O my people! You are being tried in this, and verily, your Lord is (Allah) the Most Beneficent, so follow me and obey my order." 90 They said: we shall by no means cease to be assiduous to it until there returneth to us Musa. 91 He (Moses) said: O Aaron! What held thee back when thou didst see them gone astray, 92 That thou followedst me not! Hast thou disobeyed my command? 93 [Aaron] said, "O son of my mother, do not seize [me] by my beard or by my head. Indeed, I feared that you would say, 'You caused division among the Children of Israel, and you did not observe [or await] my word.' " 94 Moses said, "What was the matter with you, Samiri?" 95 He said, "I saw what they did not see, so I took a handful [of dust] from the track of the messenger and threw it, and thus did my soul entice me." 96 Moses said, "Begone! It shall be your lot to say throughout your life, "Do not touch me," and you will be faced with a fate from which there will be no escape. Now look at your deity to which you have become so devoted: we shall burn it up, and then scatter it into the sea. 97 But the god of you all is the One Allah: there is no god but He: all things He comprehends in His knowledge. 98 Thus We recount unto thee some tidings of that which hath preceded; and surely We have vouchsafed unto thee from before Us an admonition. 99 Whoever turns away from it, will bear a burden on the Day of Resurrection. 100 therein abiding forever; how evil upon the Day of Resurrection that burden for them! 101 The Day when the Trumpet will be sounded: that Day, We shall gather the sinful, blear-eyed (with terror). 102 whispering one to another, 'You have tarried only ten nights.' 103 We know well what they will say. The most just among them in the matter will declare: 'You have stayed away but one day' 104
