The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virginal, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
