O apostles! eat of the good things and do good; surely I know what you do. 51 Verily this your order is one order, and I am your Lord, so fear Me. 52 But the people divided their religion among them into sects - each faction, in what it has, rejoicing. 53 Leave them in their perplexity for a time. 54 Deem they that in the wealth and sons wherewith We enlarge them. 55 We hasten in good works for them? No, they are not aware. 56 Lo! those who go in awe for fear of their Lord. 57 And those who believe in the revelations of their Lord, 58 And those who with their Lord associate not anyone. 59 who give, whatever they give in charity, with their hearts trembling at the thought that they are destined to return to their Lord; 60 to God, these are the ones who really compete with each other in virtuous deeds and are the foremost ones in the task. 61 And We do not burden any soul beyond its capacity, and with Us is a Book* that speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged. (* The preserved tablet or the record of one’s deeds.) 62 NAY, [as for those who have torn asunder the unity of faith] - their hearts are lost in ignorance of all this! But apart from that [breach of unity] they have [on their conscience even worse] deeds; and they will [continue to] commit them 63 Till, when We seize with the chastisement the ones of them that live at ease, behold, they groan. 64 Do not cry out today. Indeed, by Us you will not be helped. 65 Indeed My Verses used to be recited to you, but you used to turn back on your heels (denying them, and with hatred to listen to them). 66 Insolently, treating them like tales told at night." 67 Do they not ponder over the Word (of Allah), or has anything (new) come to them that did not come to their fathers of old? 68 Or, is it because they do not recognize their Messenger that they denied him? 69 Or do they say, "He is possessed"? Nay, he has brought them the Truth, but most of them hate the Truth. 70 And should the truth follow their low desires, surely the heavens and the earth and all those who are therein would have perished. Nay! We have brought to them their reminder, but from their reminder they turn aside. 71 Or do you ask of them any tribute? In that case the tribute of your Lord is better, for He is the best of providers. 72 (Muhammad), you certainly have called them to the right path, 73 but those who do not believe in the Hereafter are ever prone to deviate from the Right Way. 74 ۞ Were We to be merciful to them and remove from them their present afflictions, they would persist in their transgression, blindly wandering on. 75 (They are such) that We seized them with chastisement (and yet) they did not humble themselves before their Lord, nor do they entreat 76 until We opened upon them the door of a severe chastisement. Then lo, in this state they become utterly despaired of any good. 77
