The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 which are full of wisdom; but the warnings do not help. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 they will come forth from their graves, with their eyes downcast, [swarming about] like locusts scattered [by the wind,] 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 And so he called unto his Lord, saying, 'I am vanquished; do Thou succour me!' 10 Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down 11 We caused the earth to burst forth with springs so that the waters could come together for a predestined purpose. 12 But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warning! 16 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
