The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
